With less than a month to go before its Japanese theatrical debut, the upcoming To You in the Beyond anime film has released seven new character trailers highlighting its main cast and classmates.

The film is scheduled to open in Japan on October 9.

Junichi Wada, whose credits include HIGH CARD, directs the film at TMS Entertainment.

The currently announced staff includes:

About To You in the Beyond

The film is based on the original To You in the Beyond novel by Abe, which was published by Shueisha under its Shueisha Orange Bunko imprint in October 2017.

Story

Studio Echo describes the story:

On the remote and peaceful Tokishima, surrounded by rich nature, lies a mysterious place known as the “Cove of Spiriting Away.”

Kazuki Tsukigase arrives on the island after leaving the city for personal reasons and begins attending high school there. One day in early summer, he discovers an unconscious girl named Nanao Akishika at the cove.

With no identification and nowhere else to go, Nanao is taken in by Takatsu, the man who helped Kazuki rescue her. As Kazuki continues visiting Nanao after school, the two gradually grow closer and begin forming a quiet connection during their summer together.

But just as their relationship starts to deepen, Nanao reveals something unexpected that changes how Kazuki understands both her and the time they have shared.

What follows is a bittersweet story about two people who were never supposed to meet, the meaning they find in each other and the gentle but painful future waiting for them at the end of one unforgettable summer.
