The upcoming TV anime adaptation of The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life has released a new trailer highlighting some of the series’ action scenes ahead of its October 2026 premiere.

Crunchyroll will stream the anime as part of its Fall 2026 simulcast lineup.

Asa Rokushima began publishing the original light novel series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in January 2021.

Kodansha later began publishing a print edition under its Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint, while a manga adaptation featuring artwork by Gyomuyomochi is also available.

K Manga publishes the manga in English.

Rein is an Enchanter, a support mage capable of strengthening weapons and armor with powerful magical enhancements. After spending years improving his guildmates’ equipment, however, his usefulness seemingly runs out once there is nothing left for him to enchant.

Rather than being rewarded for everything he has done, Rein is kicked out of the guild and forced to start over. But leaving comes with an unexpected advantage: he is able to reclaim the power he previously poured into everyone else’s equipment and absorb those enhancement points for himself.

Now armed with an enormous reserve of power and nothing but basic clothes and a simple copper sword, Rein sets out on a second chance at life.
