Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise Anime Movie Reveals Theme Song Collab Music Video

I love historical war anime and manga—they tell important stories that need to be remembered. Mone Kamishiraishi has such a beautiful voice; her work on Your Name. showed she can convey deep emotion perfectly. War manga adaptations can be really powerful when they balance the historical gravity with human stories, and this looks like it will do exactly that.

The official website for the upcoming anime film adaptation of Kazuyoshi Takeda's World War II manga Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise released a collaboration music video featuring the theme song "Kiseki no youna Koto" ("Something like a miracle") sung by Mone Kamishiraishi (Mitsuha Miyamizu in Your Name.). The film opens in Japan on December 5, 2025.

    About the Manga

Kazuyoshi Takeda's original Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise manga was serialized in Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine from February 2016 to April 2021, releasing 11 collected volumes in total. The manga won the Japan Cartoonists Association Award's Excellence Award in 2017.

Synopsis: "The island of Peleliu. A paradise on earth where the Japanese soldier Tamaru, a draftsman in civilian life, disembarked in the summer of 1944, at the end of the Pacific War. The Eden turns into hell when the American fleet decides to invest it... 50,000 Japanese and American soldiers kill each other around an airport considered strategic at the time. The American army dispatched 40,000 elite soldiers, while the Japanese army faced up to the situation with a reserve of 10,000 soldiers, having received orders to resist to the last."
