At Godzilla Fest 2025 in Tokyo, Toho officially announced the title of the sequel to Godzilla Minus One — the next entry is called GODZILLA -0.0 (Minus Zero). Returning to helm the project is Takashi Yamazaki, who will once again serve as director, writer, and VFX supervisor. A release date has not yet been revealed.

In earlier interviews, Yamazaki shared his interest in making the story’s timeline reflect the characters’ emotional journey since the events of the original film.

Legacy of Minus One

Released in 2023, Godzilla Minus One earned critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide, grossing over $116 million globally and becoming Japan’s 93rd highest-grossing film of all time. It was also the first non-English language film to win Best Visual Effects at the Oscars, and took home Best Picture at the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize.
