The anime is based on the light novel series by Shikiso Utsuzawa and Pukyunosuke. Kodansha USA publishes Mokuba Matsu’s manga adaptation in English.

Based on Kodansha USA’s description, the story follows:

Eliane has spent her life protecting Belkheim, using her prayers to keep monsters away and help the kingdom’s fields thrive. Her service counts for nothing when a false saint wins over her fiancé, the prince, who breaks their engagement and drives her out as a fraud. With no money or home, Eliane heads toward a neighboring kingdom, hoping to live quietly as an ordinary citizen. For the first time, her future belongs to her—but an unexpected meeting along the way changes the life she imagined.

Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For! is set to debut in Japan in January 2027.
