World Trigger Anime Reboot Project Announced with Teaser Visual

A teaser image announcing the anime reboot project for World Trigger, featuring artwork of Yuma Kuga speeding into action wearing a suit of black power armor with red and fuchsia highlights. The setting is a bit of suburban sprawl, like a warehouse district near a fish market.

World Trigger Reboot Project teaser visual

I'm a big fan of World Trigger—I've rewatched this anime so many times because the strategic battles and team dynamics are so good. I'm excited about the reboot project; the series deserves a fresh start with consistent production quality that can do justice to the source material's tactical complexity and world-building.

The anime based on the science fiction/action manga World Trigger announced a "reboot" project today via an official social media post while also revealing a new teaser visual and a 15-second teaser trailer.

    Jump Festa Reveal Coming

No additional details about the reboot have been confirmed at this time. More information will be revealed at the Jump Festa 2026 event on December 20, 2025.

    About World Trigger

Beginning in February 2013, Daisuke Ashihara has serialized the original World Trigger manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump Square magazines. 28 collected volumes have been published in Japan to date, with VIZ Media publishing an English-language version.

Crunchyroll streams the previous three seasons of the World Trigger TV anime.

Official Synopsis: "One day, a gate to another world opened in Mikado City. Invaders from another dimension, referred to thereafter as Neighbors, overran the area around the gate, leaving the city gripped by fear. However, a mysterious group suddenly appeared and repelled the Neighbors. This Border Defense Agency independently researches Neighbor technology and fights to protect this world. In a short time, they managed to build an enormous base and prepare a defensive system against the Neighbors. It's been four years since then."

    What "Reboot" Could Mean

The announcement uses the term "reboot" rather than "season 4" or "continuation," raising questions about the project's scope. Possibilities include:

    • Complete remake from the beginning with updated animation

    • Continuation with refreshed production approach

    • New adaptation focusing on different story arcs

    • Enhanced version of existing content

Fans will need to wait for the Jump Festa announcement for clarification.
