To celebrate “Good Oshi Day” (November 4) in Japan, the team behind the upcoming anime Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court revealed a special new visual of heroines Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu dressed as matching idols.

For this image only, the series even rebrands itself cheekily as “Though I Am an Inept Idol”. The costumes were designed by manga illustrator Ei Ohitsuji, who also draws the manga adaptation of the light novel series.
About the Series
The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2026 and is directed by Mitsue Yamazaki at Doga Kobo, with series composition by Yoshiko Nakamura and character designs by Ai Kikuchi.
Originally written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by YukiKana, the story follows a high-stakes body-swap drama between a court favorite and her jealous rival during a royal competition for the emperor’s hand. Now trapped in each other’s bodies, their fortunes are reversed in unexpected—and often hilarious—ways.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English editions of both the light novel and manga.
