The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash Season 2 Announced

Season 1 was so heartwarming, so I'm glad it's continuing. I have been waiting for this; I love these types of anime that balance struggle with kindness and found family. Underdog fantasy stories are always satisfying—watching Ivy prove everyone wrong while staying gentle is exactly the kind of protagonist journey I enjoy. More wholesome survival anime is always welcome in a genre that can sometimes be too dark or violent.

The official website and accounts for The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash anime announced today that a second season is in production. Additional details, such as staff and release date, were not confirmed at the time of reporting.

    Season 1 Production

Based on the light novels by Honobonoru500 and Nama, The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash was chief-directed by Shigeyasu Yamauchi (A Town Where You Live) and directed by Naoki Horiuchi at STUDIO MASSKET, with series composition by Katsuhiko Takayama and music by Kujira Yumemi (Reign of the Seven Spellblades).

The first season aired for 12 episodes starting in January 2024.

    The Story

Synopsis: "Stars are everything, granting abilities to Tamers. So when Ivy was born without one, her village took it as an ill omen! Now banished, she leads a lonely life of salvaging rubbish to survive. That is until she befriends Sora, a weak little slime, in the forest. Together, the delicate duo embarks on a heartwarming journey of survival and discovers there's more to Ivy than being starless."

    What Made Season 1 Special

The series stood out for its gentle approach to survival fantasy, focusing on Ivy's kindness and resourcefulness rather than power or revenge. Her bond with Sora the slime provided heartwarming moments that balanced the harsh reality of her banishment and struggle to survive.
