About The Record of a Fallen Vampire
Written by Kyo Shirodaira and illustrated by Yuri Kimura, the original manga ran in Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2003 to 2007 and was collected in nine volumes. A sequel titled Vampire Juji-Kai: Inu ni wa Inu no Uta is running in the same magazine.
Yen Press publishes the manga in English. Its first-volume description introduces the story:
Vampire King Akabara “Red Rose” Strauss has spent thousands of years searching for his sealed-away queen after losing his kingdom. Humans hid her true resting place among countless false seals, while relentless dhampires continue to hunt him. His search grows more dangerous with the appearance of the Black Swan, an entity that possesses a young human girl every 50 years and grants her the power to destroy both king and queen. Each incarnation is stronger than the last, and the arrival of the 49th threatens to bring Akabara’s long journey to an end.
