The upcoming anime adaptation of The Cat and the Dragon is officially scheduled to premiere in July 2026. Based on the fantasy light novel series written by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma, the adaptation brings feline charm and fire-breathing flair to the screen.
Takehito Koyasu will voice the lead role of Nekoryuu, a solitary dragon raised by cats.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The Cat and the Dragon began on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2013 and later received print publication via Takarajimasha, with eight volumes released to date. Izumi Sasaki illustrates the manga version.
Jin Gu Oh directs the TV anime at studio OLM, with series composition by Mitsutaka Hirota. Character designs are handled by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu, with music composed by Takahiro Obata.
Crunchyroll has not yet announced streaming details, but more updates are expected closer to release.
The story follows Nekoryuu, a reclusive dragon raised by a mother cat. Known as “Uncle Wing,” he gradually sheds his distrust of humans as he protects a growing community of quirky cats — including one who befriends a human prince, and another who watches people as a hobby from her city perch.
