The upcoming Scum of the Brave anime is heating up ahead of its January 2026 premiere. A brand-new promotional video has revealed Akari Kito — best known as Nezuko Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — as the voice of Aki Jogamine, a second-year student at the Hero Training Academy.

Aki Jogamine brings a mix of sharp intuition and reckless energy to the story’s cast of aspiring heroes. Her introduction trailer highlights Kito’s spirited performance, balancing Aki’s comedic bravado with flashes of vulnerability that make her instantly memorable.

THE WORLD OF SCUM OF THE BRAVE

Originally a web novel on Kadokawa’s Kakuyomu platform, Scum of the Brave is written by Rocket Shoukai and illustrated by Yuya Kusaka. The light novel is published under Kadokawa Books, while a manga adaptation by Nakashima 723 appears in Comic Border from Leed Publishing.

An English edition is also available via Manga Planet, who describe it as a gritty action series where crime and heroism intertwine.

In this alternate-timeline Japan, powerful mafia syndicates undergo ether-enhancement surgery to transform into monstrous “Demon Kings.” Standing against them are elite bounty hunters known as “Braves.”

Yashiro, a jaded veteran content with pizza and poker, suddenly finds his quiet life upended when three rookie Braves hire him as their private tutor. What begins as a simple job for cash quickly drags him into a world of moral gray zones, explosive battles, and questions about what it truly means to be “brave.”
