Bringing Pokémon Champions to mobile expands accessibility hugely because letting players battle on the go opens the competitive scene to a much wider audience that may not own a Switch. Cross-play support between console and mobile is also a huge win since keeping the player base unified across platforms means matchmaking stays healthy and the community doesn't get fragmented. The Mega Raichu distribution is a great launch incentive too because free Pokémon and Mega Stones at launch give players a reason to jump in right away and try out a fun competitive option. And the Pokémon HOME integration is a smart bridge for veteran fans because letting players bring over Pokémon they've already befriended makes the transition seamless for longtime trainers.
Pokémon Champions made its Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 debut on April 8, and now it has a date with mobile devices. The Pokémon Company announced plans to bring the online battler to iOS and Android on June 17. Players will be able to battle across platforms, since Pokémon Champions supports cross-play between the console and mobile versions.
To celebrate the upcoming launch, Raichu and Mega Stones will be distributed to allow players to Mega Evolve Raichu starting June 17. Raichu, Raichunite X and Raichunite Y will be available via in-game mailboxes until September 1.
