Disney+ will be home to the next chapter in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding universe. Announced at the Disney+ Asia Pacific preview event in Hong Kong, a new anime series titled DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS is officially in production and scheduled to premiere in 2027.
Kojima appeared at the event alongside director Takayuki Sano (Attack on Titan Final Season, JUJUTSU KAISEN) to reveal the series’ title, teaser visual, and core creative staff. The original character designs are being handled by renowned illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045).

OFFICIAL STORY DESCRIPTION (via Kojima Productions):
Once, there was an explosion...
The souls of the dead manifest in the physical world, reaching out to the living. But these fragile connections trigger cataclysmic explosions that erase cities and nations—an event known as the Death Stranding. Civilization collapses, and humanity withdraws into isolated shelters, disconnected and hopeless.
In this world, a legendary porter begins the journey to reconnect people, delivering their cargo and their wishes. While Sam Bridges walks his path across a fractured America, others begin their own stories:
An old man who seeks salvation through means beyond connection
A female warrior determined to create a world built on endless combat
A boy who blames Bridges for his pain
A girl who chooses to live alone
At the edge of humanity’s extinction, their fates collide...
And now, comes another explosion.
