DAN DA DAN getting a stage play is wild and perfect because the series has such bombastic visuals and supernatural action that translating it to live theater is a bold creative challenge that fans should be hyped to see. Casting separate actors for Okarun and Transformed Okarun is also smart staging since having Hiroki Hyakuna handle the transformed version lets the production lean into physical performance and stunt work without disrupting the main role. Running in both Tokyo and Osaka shows real confidence too because a dual-city run with extended dates signals the producers expect strong fan demand, which speaks to DAN DA DAN's reach in Japan. And the "Occultic Stage" subtitle leans into the supernatural angle, making it a fun branding choice that sets it apart from a simple anime adaptation.
The official website and accounts for the DAN DA DAN stage play adaptation, now subtitled "~Occultic Stage~", unveiled main cast and performance dates today, along with a new visual. Directed by Imagine Ito (Umebo) with a script by Shinjiro Kameda and music by Ryo Konishi, the show will run at Tokyo's Nippon Seinenkan Hall from August 26 to September 3 and at Osaka's Sky Theater MBS from September 11 to September 13. Pre-sale tickets will be made available on June 2.
