Sometimes you just need a cozy shoujo fantasy about a witch who's misunderstood because mushrooms grow wherever she walks. Champignon Witch has that perfect blend of wholesome magic and gentle storytelling that makes you want to curl up with a warm drink and just vibe. The anime premieres in Japan on January 8, and the creditless opening and ending are already setting the tone perfectly. "Mahou Tsukai no Nikki" by Rosu captures that fairytale atmosphere, and I'm already invested in Luna's journey to find warmth and acceptance.

In just a couple of days, the anime adaptation of shoujo fantasy manga Champignon Witch premieres in Japan. Ahead of the series, TBS Anime has released creditless versions of the show's opening and ending. The opening is set to "Mahou Tsukai no Nikki" by Rosu, and the ending is set to "Kimi wa" by Ms.OOJA.

About the Series

Since October 2019, Hakusensha has published the original Champignon Witch manga by Tachibana Higuchi in their Manga Park shojo manga magazine.

Staff

Yosuke Kubo directs the TV anime at animation studios Typhoon Graphics and Qzil.la, with series composition by Yuko Kakihara and character designs by Miki Matsumoto.

Studio Echo describes the story as:

The story of Champignon Witch follows the dark forest-dwelling Luna, who people fear is a black witch because poisonous mushrooms grow wherever she goes. As such, the townspeople call her the "Mushroom Witch." However, despite never feeling any warmth from them, Luna begins to feel affection for them...? It's a magical fantasy of love, adventure and emotions!

The fantasy manga adaptation premieres in Japan on January 8.
