Based on the light novel series by Natsume Kurusu and Sai Izumi, the anime is directed by Akira Iwanaga (Arifureta) at Studio Asread, with Katsuhiko Takayama writing the series composition and music by Makoto Miyazaki (One-Punch Man).
Published in English by Yen Press, the story follows Rei Hitoma, a reluctant new teacher at a secluded school for demi-humans—students like mermaids, werewolves, and rabbits who hope to one day become fully human.
