According to Bandai Namco Entertainment America, players take on the role of mercenaries, piloting Mobile Suits and working with teammates to control the battlefield. They can also leave their cockpits to fight as infantry, plant bombs at enemy bases, call for support fire and secure objectives.
The launch roster draws from Universal Century and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, with more Gundam series planned for later additions. The publisher also highlighted the BuCUE among the units players can expect as the roster expands.
Every Mobile Suit will have SP Skills intended to emphasize its individual abilities. Other changes from Battle Operation 2 include a redesigned user interface and Battle Assist, a feature designed to make complex maneuvers and combos easier to execute.
The sequel also promises more detailed environments, player avatars and Mobile Suit models. Its battles will continue to combine Mobile Suit combat with infantry operations, making the decision to leave the cockpit part of the team’s strategy.
